Two virtuosos in a meeting of minds at the crossroads of the Blues and Raag, they bend the boundaries, reinterpret and reinvent their own individual traditional forms and expression to create something new.

BIOS

ANWAR KHURSHID
a classically trained musician from Pakistan, has made Canada his home for more than 20 years. Because of Anwar’s attention to the nuances of vocal music and his high technical ability, his instrument becomes a voice. Anwar explores the intricate spaces between notes and beats with ease and is tireless in his pursuit of pure music. His music has influences ranging from Indian Classical to Blues, Chinese and Arabic music. Recently performed at the AGO, Place des Arts Montreal, Lakehead University Thunder Bay, Kamani Auditorium Delhi, and Roy Thomson Hall Toronto.

PAUL DESLAURIERS a virtuoso on both electric and acoustic guitars is one of Quebec’s best guitarists. With over two decades of experience in the music industry, seven albums under his belt, and a list of fans that extends into Europe & US, this guitarist/singer/songwriter/producer has truly mastered his art.

Winner of the Lys Blues Award for Best Artist Performance in 2011, Album of the year 2008, and Best Musical Performance in 2005, nominated at the Canadian Maple Blues Awards for Acoustic Act of the Year along with Dawn Tyler Watson for their album ‘En Duo”. Paul’s 2006 solo release Ripping Into Red garnered rave reviews in the April 2007 issue of Guitar Player Magazine.

Editor in Chief Michael Molenda had this to say about him: “Deslauriers really knows how to grab your ears from note one". In 2010 Deslauriers was musical director, producer and performer on the “Nos Stars Chantent Le Blues a Montreal” CD for Lequipe Spectra and Montreal Int’l Jazz Festival. Paul is a founding member of Black Cat Bone, deemed by many critics to be one of Canada’s hottest blues-rock band.

AL WEBSTER comes from a musical background: his father Fred Webster played drums with Jazz greats Lee Morgan, Kenny Dorham, Sonny Stitt, J.J. Johnson, Cecil Payne, Wardell Gray, Kenny Burrell, Lou Donaldson, and many others. Al is an active educator, session and touring musician his recording and performing credits include: Jeff Healey, Colin James, Amanda Marshall, Randy Bachman, Jaco Pastorius, Long John Baldry, Zachary Richard, Jack Bruce, Doug Riley, Edgar Winter, Mavis Staples, Billy Ray Cyrus, Kim Wilson, Robben Ford, Duke Robillard, Ray Benson, Ian Gillan, Gilby Clarke, Alanna Myles, Matt Minglewood, Idle Eyes, Doug & The Slugs, Steve Lukather, Jim Belushi, Kenny Neal, Michelle Shocked and many more. TV appearances include the Rosie O'Donnell Show, Much Music, Juno Awards, NHL Awards, MTV, and concert specials around the world.
